Month Overview

January

This month Radford focuses on political news, specifically in relation to the military. Radford also hosts a segment that reports on President Bush honoring Jason Duham, a former US Marine corps memeber, with a medal of honor. Duham recieves this medal as a result of his couragous actions; he had lept on a grenade to save the lives of two other marines. Duham as a result lost his life defending the country and defending his fellow marines. His family recieves the medal on his behlaf.

February

Radford continues the trend of reporting on religious news in regards to the Catholic Church and it's actions locally. Over multiple airings Radford describes why the Catholic Church is consolidating in Western new York and what that means. As a result of consolidation many parishes and Catholic schools closing; as a result many Catholic's of Western New York are unahppy. Radford explains why Edward Kmiec is focused on consolidation and draws on former news reports from November 2005.

March

Reports center around local art and economic news. Radford reports on the Buffalo Auction and Art Gallery. Both are becoming popular with the increase in high value items he explains.

April

Radford's reports focus on local buisness and economic news.

  • April 22: Earth Day and Radford discusses how Buffalo, as a city, plans to do its part in going green to help the enviornment.

May

In continuation with April news, Radford updates viewers on Buffalo's Green Iniative. He also describes local construction news realted to a medical (hospice) facility.

June

This month Radford reports on various topics ranging from criminal activity and court cases/court reporting in additon to economic updates.

  • Segment: Radford hosts a segment concentrated on local employees who are angered over local companies not following the 1999 law that put in place a local minimum wage, that was liveable. Companies are not following this due to a lack of communcation and to save money

July

Zippo 75 Years anniversry and a local celebration.

August

Reports this month follow criminal activity and court room reports. Specifically Radford reports from the court room of the Sanchez trial. Altemio Sanchez, Radford explains to viewers, was one of Buffalo's local serial killers and rapists whose criminal activty spanned 1990-2006. Radford outlines the charges against Sanchez and walks viewers through the court case [process].

October

Boradly reports this month address how local sports teams impact the eocnomy. This report is similar to previous ones including one in October-December 2004 and his interview wth Tom Golisano in February of 2006. This time Radford discusses the different sports teams from Buffalo and how their existence in Buffalo is crucial for the city economically. The sports teams bring out a lot of local fans as well as bring in non-local fans.

November

In November report examine politics and economics. Politically Radford concentrates on news regarding regionalism, what it is, and why it does not work in Western new york. As for economics, he again focuses on the Canadian border. However, unlike his reports in September 1999 and October 2003 where he described the economic interactions and impact of travel between the two nations, he instead explains why many Canadians are coming to the states to shop; it is due to the difference in dollar value between the U.S. and Canada.

December

As the New year approaches Radford emphasizes fun local festivies. Buffalo News also reflects on what it offers viewers.
