The Camden Benares Files

John F. Carr Home Archival Collection Archives Home

Camden Benares (d. 2000) was a colleague and good friend of John F. Carr. They planned to write a series of eight novels known as the Crying Crown Celebration together. However, only the prequel to the series, Carnifex Mardi Gras by John F. Carr, was ever completed and published. Benares and Carr also co-authored a novel titled Surface Disturbance, but its publisher went out of business before the novel could be published. The John F. Carr collection contains drafts, notes, and manuscripts of these works, as well as various other unpublished projects co-authored by Carr and Benares.

Pequod Press published a Carr/Benares collaboration, Rainbow Run in 2012. Emails suggest that Carr will be looking to publish other joint Carr/Benares material in the future.

John F. Carr is currently planning the construction of a website dedicated the the life and works of Benares.
