1964 Election
After serving only a year as president after the assassination of Kennedy, Lyndon B. Johnson (D) ran again for office with his running mate, Hubert Humphrey. Opposing them was Barry Goldwater (R) and his running mate, William E. Miller. Johnson and Humphrey won.

1968 and 1972 Elections
The 1968 and 1972 elections saw the return of Richard Nixon (R) after a disastrous presidential run in 1960 against John F. Kennedy. Nixon and his running mate, Spiro Agnew easily won both elections. In 1968, Nixon ran against two other candidates, Hubert Humphrey (D) and running mate Edmund Muskie and George Wallace (I) and running mate, Curtis LeMay. In 1972, Nixon ran against George McGovern (D) and running mate, Sargent Shriver.
