About the Robert E. Golden Archives

Robert Emmet Golden was a student at St. Bonaventure from 1883 to 1886, completing his studies at Belmont College in North Carolina.

Golden was a journalist for most of his career.  He worked for a number of newspapers in Virginia, Ohio and Texas, spending much of his career in Richmond, VA.  He also wrote short stories, plays and songs, including a musical comedy.

Golden won the Headliners Award in 1940 for his feature series "Oldest Man about Town".

Mrs. Helen Jenkins, Mr. Golden's daughter, donated  his collection to the St. Bonaventure Archives to be used for research purposes.
