Site about the Battle

Story Description:
Story about the Battle of Bastogne in World War II.  In this battle, the 101st airborne division fought within the  city , and defeated the Germans. (See above site for more details about battle.)

White unnumbered pages with thick tan front and back cover.  Two holes in top center of each page, with thick strap through to attach.  Front cover: "This is the only work I ever dictated line by line and the only work I ever documented throughout" with Marshall's signature in blue ink; says "First Draft" at bottom in blue colored pencil.  Editorial corrections in pencil, red colored pencil, blue marker, blue colored pencil.  Includes page at end of each chapter for endnote numbers and pages.  Chapter title in center of first page of each chapter.

White or tan soft paper, good condition.  Editorial corrections in green ink, pencil, red and blue ink, and pink colored pencil; mainly writing, comments.  Some pages have more than one copy.  "Marshall Battle" in green ink in upper left-hand corner of most pages.  Page text has vertical pencil slash/slashes through it.

White paper, varying textures.  Editorial corrections in pink colored pencil, pencil, and green and blue ink.   Includes introductory pages, authors note and index.  Blue stamped page numbers in upper right-hand corner; index, page numbers typed in center.  Various fonts used throughout.  "Battle at Best" followed by page number in top of text pages; first page of chapter contains chapter title in center instead.

White unnumbered Detroit News Letterhead.  First page is typed letter to Father Irenaeus Herscher, OFM, then librarian on regular letterhead about manuscript.  Next 15pages are manuscript on either upside down letterhead or writing on back of letterhead.  Manuscript is small hand-writing in purple ink with minimal editorial corrections in purple ink.
