Masthead examples:  General  Business/Labor Educational  Ethnic  Military Religious

The press has long provided the many ethnic groups in the United States "melting pot" with a means of communicating among themselves. Often published in the native language, or a combination of that and English, these journals offered a taste of home as the immigrant groups gradually assimilated in to American society.

While these examples come from New York City, there have been many similar newspapers published around the country, wherever a large group of any one ethnicity has settled.
