Dr. Andrew Roth was named interim president of St. Bonaventure University upon the retirement of Sr. Margaret Carney, O.S.F. in 2016.
Roth was previously president and chief executive officer of Notre Dame College in Cleveland from 2003-2014 during which time the school's enrollment tripled. Earlier he had served as vice president for academic affairs, chief information officier and vice president for enrollment at Mercyhurst College. He had previously served there as director of admissions and dean of admissions and financial aid. He also founded Mercyhurst's women's soccer program and coached it from 1986-1990.
Roth began his career as an instructor in English at Gannon University in 1970 and went on to teach English, communiations and business at Merychurst where he was a tenured faculty member.
His academic background includes bachelor's degrees in English and history from John Carroll University; a master's in English language & literature from Case Western Reserve; an MBA in marketing and strategic planning from Gannon; and a Ph.D. in public policy & higher education from the University at Buffalo.
