Richard Trietley

Richard Trietley graduated from St. Bonaventure in 1986. He was a cadet in the ROTC program from 1982-86 and worked as a cadre member from 1993-96. He worked as a professor of military science at St. Bonaventure from 2003-08. Trietley became the Vice Provost for Student Life in 2008.  He says, “It is a great program for developing leadership skills, serving the nation, building one’s resume, and a way to find a group of friends on campus to really connect with. He noted today’s ROTC participants join knowing that this is a time of war and they will go to war.  Because of this he has the ultimate respect for them. The ROTC program was his true passion while he was a student at Bonaventure and made him an impeccable leader with an abundance of confidence. While in the program he was fortunate to go away every summer for real army training. He went to Air Assault School, Airborne School, and Fort Bragg. Trietley served 22 honorable years in the Army.  He stated that the experiences he had, places he went, and people he met in the ROTC have shaped him into who he is today.
