Regarding the transcripts Linda A. Fischer Garringer wrote:
The following is correspondence from Fr. Ralph to his brother Tony (Anthony P. Antonucci at 1263 Lovejoy Street Buffalo 6, New York) during the war years 1944-1945 until his death. I was given these letters by Rosemary Antonucci, Tony’s youngest daughter. The transcription was for ease of reading and sharing. There were 28 letters in all; most were typed with some hand-written. They are in postmark order from earliest May 16, 1944 to the last April 25, 1945. Often the postmarks, letter dates and received dates were different and are noted as such.
I followed the punctuation and spelling of the original letter as much as the Word program would allow. It seems the convention at the time was to eliminate the apostrophe in cant, wont and don’t. As shown in the last ‘don’t’ the program self corrects and I end up using the current convention. The beauty of the letters is not so much in the content but in the voice of an uncle none of us knew except through our sad loss.
