USA Today Bench


Robert A. Dubill graduated from St. Bonaventure University in 1958. During his time at St. Bonaventure, Dubill was sports editor and news editor of the Bona Venture. He served as managing editor of the BV his senior year. Dubill worked at various news outlets before he became the executive editor of USA Today from 1995 to 2002. Dubill was part of the winning team that won the 1980 Pulitizer Prize for Public Service gold medal for its investigation of financial improprieties by the Pauline Fathers who are a small order of monks in Eastern Pennsylvania. The award went to the Gannett News Service, which Dubill and John M. Hanchette ('64) were apart of. While working as state bureau chief in New Jersey, Dubill attended Seton Hall University Law School. In addition to a career in journalism, he is also an attorney and member of the New Jersey and District of Columbia Bar Associations. Robert A. Dubill was a member of the Board of Trustees from 1996 to 2000.

The USA Today Bench is located by the Murphy Building. It was placed there in 2002. The bench and plantings around it were donated by the USA Today staff in memorial to Robert A. Dubill.
