Bill Stephens is communications manager for Bradway Financial, an advisory and investment management firm with offices in Longmeadow, Mass., and West Hartford, Conn. He joined the firm in 2007 after two stints at The Republican newspaper in Springfield, Mass., between 1995 and 2007. After spending a year handling news and page design on the night copy desk, he was promoted to the editorial page in 1996. In 1999, Bill received an honorable mention for editorial writing from the New England Associated Press News Executives Association. From 2003 to 2007, Stephens was a production editor who coordinated the publication of seven weekly “hyperlocal” tabloids the daily newspaper introduced in an effort to retain readers and gain additional local advertising. He began his newspaper career as a reporter for the Staten Island (N.Y.) Advance after graduation in 1988. A Columbia Journalism School classmate of Dr. Jandoli was the editor of the Advance at the time, and Dr. Jandoli put in a good word. Stephens was assistant director of public relations at St. Bonaventure from 1991 through 1994, when he earned a master’s degree in history. He lives in Westfield, Mass., with his wife, Dr. Lisa Stephens, ’87, and their two children.
