Physical Description:

The copyright page has printer's marks in orange.  Corrections and deletions are done in blue pencil, deep red marker, pencil and red ink.  There seem to be more editor's marks than author marks.  The page numbers run in sequence except for a few pages inserted and numbered with a number and a letter.  Some page numbers are crossed out and changed after a page was inserted.  Large sections of text are crossed out.

There is a red pencil notation 'Bishop, Au's org. ms-retyped'.  Each entry is checked off using red pencil or blue ink.  New data is inserted also.

Physical Description:

This is the complete book before the final binding and book cover is added.  Each sheet is folded in half and grouped together.  These groups are then divided into 22 sections.  Names to be added to the bibliography are done in blue ink on the very last page.

Physical Description:

The few corrections done are done in blue pencil or blue ink.  There are green slips of paper on the backs of some sheets.  These seem to be used to ask questions of and obtain answers from the author.  The page numbers have been crossed off and changed and many sections of the text have been crossed out.

Mary Newman is copy editor correcting Bishop.  These note cards, for the most part were sent as enclosures to Jim Bishop by Howard Cady.

Physical Description:

These are small 3 hole notebooks filled with handwritten pages, typed pages, and newsclippings taped on a page in scrapbook style.  Besides the newsclipping there is many pages from pamphlets and letters taped on the pages.  The notebooks are divided into time periods starting with April 1944 and ending with April 13-17, 1945.  Several of the notebooks have only a few days material instead of a full month.

Physical Description:

'Master Set' is hand written in red ink and circled with red ink.  There is two pages per sheet and some of these pages have a red x in the margin beside them.  There is very few marks editor's or author's in the text.  At the top of the first sheet is a note 'Harry: OK for correction (a word I can't make out) JB'.  On the second page is 'OK JB 4/29/79'.  The index has two pages per sheet and many printer's marks.  These marks are in red pencil.

Physical Description:

'Reader's Set' is written in blue ink at the top of first sheet.  There is one long page per sheet.  Red ink marks in the margins appear to be page break notations.  There is very few corrections or marks in the actual text itself.  When it is done it is in pencil or blue ink.

Physical Description:

These are heavy card stock paper that has one page per sheet.  Each sheet has one to several pieces of thin see through paper taped to it.  On these scraps of paper are circles the size of a pencil and x's in blue pencil.  One has a note 'Clean up' on it.  The scraps of paper lay over the text and the circles seem to pertain to parts of the text in question.  Some of the scraps are initialed PE. The pages are numbered 23, 123, and 354.
