Ellicottville professional to head Health Services

Brandon CoburnST. BONAVENTURE, N.Y., Sept. 3, 2010 —  Brandon M. Coburn of Ellicottville has been named the new Health Services director at St. Bonaventure University.  He begins work Monday.

 

A board certified registered nurse and adult nurse practitioner, Coburn began his career at Erie Community College, where he earned his associate degree in nursing, summa cum laude.  He then continued his career at the University of Rochester Medical Center in critical care while earning both his undergraduate (2007) and graduate (2009) nursing degrees from the University of Rochester School of Nursing. He was magna cum laude in each program.

 

Coburn is pursuing his doctor of nursing practice from Chatham University in Pittsburgh.

 

“Being the alma mater of my wife, Amanda, I am excited to begin work at St. Bonaventure University and look forward to calling SBU home,” Coburn said. Asked about his priorities for the 2010-2011 academic year, Coburn simply said, “the students.”

 

Coburn has worked as a nurse practitioner intensivist at Erie County Medical Center; a clinical professor at Jamestown Community College; a nurse practitioner at Family Practice Associates of Cattaraugus, LLC; a nurse manager at Kaleida Health, Buffalo General Hospital; and a Clinical Resource Nurse, Strong Memorial Hospital (URMC).

 

“We are extremely pleased to welcome Brandon to our Health Services team,” said Rick Trietley, vice provost for Student Life.  “He is a proven clinician, leader and educator who will serve our student population with a high degree of health care and customer service.”

 

Coburn is a member of several professional nursing societies, including the National Student Nurse Association, American Association of Neuroscience Nurses, New York State Nurses Association, New York State Nurse Practitioner Association, American Association of Critical Care Nurses, Sigma Theta Tau International Nursing Honor Society and the Society of Critical Care Medicine.

 

Coburn and his wife have two children, Tobias, 3, and Isabelle, 2.
