The Campus Activities Board and the Center for Activities, Recreation and Leadership invite students, parents, family members and friends to SBU's Family Weekend 2010. Here's a rundown of the weekend's events:

 

FRIDAY, SEPT. 24

  • Wind Soloists of New York7:30 p.m. — Wind Soloists of New York at SBU's Quick Center. For tickets and info.: www.sbu.edu/quickcenter.
  • 8-11 p.m. — Casino Night: Win prizes playing games of chance with play money at the Richter Center.
  • 8 p.m.-Midnight — DJ Dylan Stone plays your favorites in the Rathskeller.

SATURDAY, SEPT. 25

  • 8 a.m.-3 p.m. — Golf Tourney at the SBU course; no greens fees; carts $12 (while they last); students may register at the Richter Center starting Sept. 1.
  • 8:30 a.m. — BonaFit 5K Walk & Run on the Allegheny River Valley Trail in celebration of National Family Health & Fitness Day; meet at the SBU tennis courts. Details and registration 
  • Sr. Margaret Carney, O.S.F.9:15-10:15 a.m. — Coffee with SBU President Sr. Margaret Carney, O.S.F., in the Hall of Fame, Reilly Center; pastries & beverages available.
  • 9:30-11 a.m. — MBA Information Session, Q&A with MBA Director John Stevens; Room 107, Murphy Building.
  • 10:30-11:30 a.m. — Counseling Center Director Roger Keener talks about the first month and what to expect next; Trustees Room, Doyle Hall.
  • 10:30-11:30 a.m. — Alumni Reception for SBU alumni and families; Hall of Fame, Reilly Center.
  • 10:30 a.m. — ROTC Fall Awards Ceremony at the Quick Center; reception precedes 11 a.m. ceremony.
  • 11 a.m. — BONAGANY festival opens in downtown Allegany; shuttle bus service provided between village and campus.
  • Women's Rugby11 a.m. — Women’s Rugby vs. SUNY Oswego.
  • 11 a.m.-3 p.m. — Open House at the Mt. Irenaeus Franciscan Retreat in Allegany County; reflection & prayer service at 1 p.m. Get directions at the Merton Center on campus or at www.mounti.com.
  • Noon — Phi Eta Sigma Induction for Honor Society inductees and their families; University Chapel.
  • 1 p.m. — Men’s Rugby vs. SUNY Albany.
  • Hypnotist Keith Karkut8 p.m. — Hypnotic Intoxication with hypnotist Keith Karkut in the Murphy Building’s Dresser Auditorium.
  • 8 p.m.- Midnight — Darts, billiards, video games and cover songs by Rod Tucker in the Rathskeller.

SUNDAY, SEPT. 26

  • 10:30 a.m. — All are welcome to participate in a special Family Weekend Mass in the Reilly Center.
