      Northern Ireland college the week of Feb. 14 as the two =

      deepen their relationship and discuss opportunities for=20
      collaboration.</FONT></P>
      <P><FONT face=3D"Geneva, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif">As part of =
his visit=20
      to St. Bonaventure, Peter Finn, president of St. Mary=92s =
University=20
      College, Belfast, will give an open lecture at 7 p.m. Tuesday, =
Feb. 16, in=20
      the amphitheater of the William F. Walsh Science Center. The topic =
of his=20
      address will be =93Reflections on Leadership of a Catholic Higher =
Education=20
      College in Northern Ireland.=94</FONT></P>
      <P><FONT face=3D"Geneva, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif">Throughout =
the week,=20
      Finn will meet with St. Bonaventure faculty and staff who are =
working to=20
      develop relationships, research projects, and curricular =
connections to=20
      St. Mary=92s UC. Last June, a group from Bona=92s traveled to =
Northern Ireland=20
      to develop contacts at St. Mary=92s UC and Queen=92s University, =
among other=20
      entities.</FONT></P>

      Center will offer an innovative cross-cultural experience as it =

      students, faculty and cultural exchanges in the Republic of =

began=20
      exploring potential partnerships in Ireland, one of my first =
conversations=20
      was with Peter Finn,=94 said Larry Sorokes, director of the Mychal =
Judge=20
      Center. =93We=92ve had many discussions on the significance of the =
Irish=20
      reconciliation, the common challenges we face as Catholic higher =
education=20
      institutions, and the importance of providing our students with =
rewarding=20
      international experiences. As I considered possible speakers for =
the Fr.=20
      Mychal Judge Center, I hoped that Peter could be among the first. =
We=92re=20
      excited to welcome him and his family to campus.=94</FONT></P>

      college in 2008, Finn has been responsible for a number of =
innovative=20
      developments at the institution, which will celebrate 110 years =

      the road of internationalization through the EU Erasmus=20

      established a bachelor=92s degree in liberal arts that was modeled =
on his=20
      experience of liberal arts colleges in the United States. In =
recent years=20
      he has been responsible for academic and administrative =
restructuring=20
      designed to enable the college to respond in a flexible way to new =
and=20
      developing circumstances. His research interests are in the role =
of=20
      institutional ethos in improvement and high =
performance.</FONT></P>
      <P><FONT face=3D"Geneva, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif">Finn=92s =
work at St=20
      Mary=92s connects him primarily to education in Northern Ireland =
as the=20
      college=92s main role is still in teacher education, but he also =
emphasizes=20
      developing links with the college=92s local business and political =

      community. The recent National Student Survey in the UK placed St. =
Mary=92s=20
      tied for fourth place in student satisfaction among more than 160=20
      universities in the England, Scotland, Wales and Northern=20
      Ireland.</FONT></P>
      <P><FONT face=3D"Geneva, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif">In 2009, =
Finn was=20
      appointed by the Minister for Employment and Learning in Northern =
Ireland=20
      to an Expert Group on the International Dimension in Higher =
Education and=20
      he also serves on the UK Erasmus Committee of the British=20
      Council.</FONT></P>

      the Father Mychal Judge Center for Irish Exchange and=20

      center, St. Bonaventure recognized the strong Irish heritage of =
its=20
      founder, Nicholas Devereux, the centuries-old and significant=20
      contributions of the Franciscan friars in Ireland, and the =
university=92s=20
      long-standing commitment to servant leadership and social=20
      entrepreneurship.</FONT></P>
      <P><FONT face=3D"Geneva, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif">Fr. Mychal =
Judge,=20
      O.F.M., was famous for the many ways in which he was committed to =
serving=20
      the poor, friendless, and disenfranchised. He was a counselor, =
pastor,=20
      fire chaplain, and peacemaker, and his work focused on the =
promotion of=20
      reconciliation, whether in addressing the AIDS crisis of the 1980s =
or the=20
      Irish peace process of the 1990s. Fr. Mychal died a hero=92s death =
on Sept.=20
      11, 2001, while serving as chaplain to New York City firefighters =
at the=20
      World Trade Center.</FONT></P>

      Jacques Offenbach was the most successful practitioner of the =

popularity in=20
      Spain where was known as Zarzuela and became a very sought after =
form of=20

      Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program officially opens =
its tax=20
      preparation site at the Olean Center Mall on Monday, Feb. 1. The =

      located near Subway and JCPenney, and will remain open until the =
end of=20
      March. The St. Bonaventure VITA site is an innovative, high-volume =
program=20
      that operates on an appointment basis, and has the capacity to =
prepare=20
      over 100 tax returns per week during =93tax season=94 =
2010.</FONT></P>
      <P><FONT face=3D"Geneva, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif">Operating =
hours are=20
      Monday through Friday at the Olean Center Mall, with morning, =
afternoon,=20

      all W-2 forms, and Forms 1099 to their tax preparation=20

      University=92s VITA program has brought federal and state income =
tax=20
      benefits to people with low and moderate incomes by providing free =
income=20
      tax preparation and e-filing. The program focuses on workers who =

      eligible for the Earned Income Tax Credit, a refundable tax credit =

      available to low- and moderate-income workers with earned=20
      income.</FONT></P>

students set a=20
      new record in 2009, preparing 500 tax returns with $750,000 in tax =
refunds=20
      for local taxpayers, an almost 25 percent increase from 2008. =

      VITA has helped Cattaraugus County residents earn $2.35 million in =

      refunds, and prepared 1,500 tax returns.</FONT></P>

      alumni from St. Bonaventure University volunteer to make the =

      possible under the leadership of Dr. Susan Anders, professor of =

      hours of training and must pass rigorous IRS certification tests. =

      2010, 75 percent of the volunteer tax preparers are certified at =
