      as an Army officer for four years and graduated from the =

      Justice where he tried a multitude of major violent crime, fraud =

      corruption cases. He was named the Department of Justice Senior =

      Counsel, Chief of the Criminal Division of the Eastern District of =

      Chief of the Austin Division of the Western District of Texas and =

      Department assistant in charge of the evaluation of the nation=92s =

      worked with the Justice Department=92s National Security Working =

      as an international and national security coordinator for the =

      prosecutors. In 1985, he began teaching at the F.B.I Academy and =

      courses in national security law and federal criminal =

      team of executives overseeing the business operations of the $5.5 =
billion=20
      Community Bank, N.A., Brian D. Donahue, =9279, puts his blue =
collar work=20
      philosophy and matching can-do attitude into high gear every=20
      day.</FONT></P>
      <P><FONT face=3D"Geneva, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif">Hard work =
and=20
      determination are nothing new to Donahue.</FONT></P>
      <P><FONT face=3D"Geneva, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif">During his=20
      undergraduate years at St. Bonaventure he worked part time to pay =
tuition=20
      after earning an associate=92s degree at Morrisville State =
College,=20
      eventually earning a bachelor=92s in business administration from =
SBU. =93My=20
      father was a truck driver,=94 he shares. =93I just had to figure =
out a way to=20
      get through it myself.=94</FONT></P>
      <P><FONT face=3D"Geneva, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif">He lived =
off-campus,=20
      juggling work with a full load of classes. Friedsam Memorial =
Library=20
      became his second home, but it was the Reilly Center that held the =

      strongest pull.</FONT></P>
      <P><FONT face=3D"Geneva, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif">=93I grew =
up watching=20
      Bob Lanier. My first memory of Bona=92s is just being able to go =
to those=20
      (basketball) games,=94 he says. =93I have great memories of huge =
wins.=94 The=20
      Olean native recalls the many times his mother would buy game =
tickets for=20
      him =97 tickets his friends =93would have done anything=94 to get =
their hands=20
      on. Now that he=92s older, he has an even greater appreciation for =
the=20
      loyalty of the alumni and fans, and for the commitment of the =
community to=20
      St. Bonaventure athletics. </FONT></P>
      <P><FONT face=3D"Geneva, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif">In 1980, =
Donahue=20
      began his banking career with First Trust Union Bank in =
Wellsville, NY. He=20
      held several management positions during his tenure, gaining =
experience=20
      while the bank grew via mergers from a small community bank to =
Fleet Bank,=20
      a regional bank known throughout the Northeast. By 1992, he joined =

      Community Bank as senior loan officer, managing lending policy and =

      procedure.</FONT></P>
      <P></P>
      <P><FONT face=3D"Geneva, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif">Today, =
Donahue serves=20
      as executive vice president and chief banking officer, directing =
the=20
      day-to-day operations of 150 offices in New York and Pennsylvania =
and=20
      overseeing all commercial and retail lending activities within the =
bank.=20
      </FONT></P>
      <P><FONT face=3D"Geneva, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif">=93Every =
day is=20
      different and is a challenge,=94 he shares, =93but like Nike says =
=91there is no=20
      off-season.=92 You have to give everything you have every day. You =
have to=20
      work hard to succeed =97 and we do. We have great, dedicated =
employees who=20
      make a difference every day.=94</FONT></P>
      <P><FONT face=3D"Geneva, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif">Dave Clark, =
SBU Class=20
      of 1976 with a BBA in accounting, is one of those employees. =
Recruited to=20
      Community Bank in 1993 by Donahue, Clark serves as senior vice =
president=20
      and chief credit officer. He counts Donahue as a close friend and =
is most=20
      impressed by his leadership. =93Brian leads by example and has =
never asked=20
      something of me that he would not do or has not previously done =
himself.=20
      He is self-driven, competitive and dedicated to succeed,=94 he=20
      says.</FONT></P>
      <P><FONT face=3D"Geneva, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif">Clark also =
points out=20
      that Donahue is dedicated to helping others. =93He has always =
supported me=20
      regardless of how difficult the situation may have been at the =
time. A=20
      common theme from Brian is to just put him in a position to =
support your=20
      efforts, regardless of the outcome. If the effort is there, he =
will be=20
      there in support.=94</FONT></P>
      <P><FONT face=3D"Geneva, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif">Donahue=92s =
strong work=20
      ethic and commitment to relationships appear a perfect fit with =
Community=20
      Bank, which was again named by J. D. Power &amp; Associates as one =
of the=20
      top 10 banks in the nation in customer satisfaction (2008). The =
company=20
      was also recognized by Business First (Buffalo, NY) as one of the =
best=20
      places to work in Western New York.</FONT></P>

our=20
      customers to feel they are dealing with dedicated Community Bank =

      board work span more than three decades in the greater Olean area, =

around his=20
      corner office in Blue Bird Square in Olean makes it clear that he =
has a=20
      passion not only for Bona=92s and basketball, but also for the =
connections=20
      that make life rich. Tucked in between the sports memorabilia =
(everything=20
      from corporate sponsorship plaques to a Bona Indian head) are =
photos of=20
      family, friends and colleagues; the smiles huge, the moments=20
      dear.</FONT></P>
      <P><FONT face=3D"Geneva, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif">Family =
matters most=20
      to him, and it is obvious by the pride and affection in his voice =
that his=20
      wife, Paula, who earned her master=92s at Bona=92s in 1983, is his =
greatest=20
      inspiration =97 and strongest source of support. =93It takes a lot =
of=20
      understanding,=94 he says of his long days and busy travel =
schedule.=20
      </FONT></P>
      <P><FONT face=3D"Geneva, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif">Together =
for 30=20
      years, they have two sons, Chris, a pharmaceutical representative =
in the=20
      Buffalo area, and Sean, a sophomore on the men=92s basketball team =
at=20
      Fredonia State, both of whom have strong Bona ties. =93We have =
been longtime=20
      season ticket holders and Community Bank has been a corporate =
partner=20
      since the inception of the Bona Backer Program. My boys grew up =
attending=20
      the basketball games and have fond memories, notably the NCAA =
tournament=20
      in 2000,=94 he says, noting the overtime game against Kentucky =97 =
a game =93all=20
      St. Bonaventure fans will remember forever.=94</FONT></P>
      <P><FONT face=3D"Geneva, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif">Donahue and =
Jim=20
      Baron, =9277, the former Bonnies=92 co-captain and head coach, =
share a tight=20
      bond, one forged during Baron=92s nine seasons of coaching at =
Bonaventure.=20
      Their sons are the same ages (Chris and Jimmy; Sean and Billy) and =
wives=20
      Paula and Cindy are close. =93We take the blue-collar view. =
We=92re just=20
      hardworking guys who do everything we can to get it done,=94 =
Donahue=20
      says.</FONT></P>
      <P><FONT face=3D"Geneva, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif">Baron, the =
head coach=20
      at Rhode Island since 2001, has only praise for Donahue. =93Brian =
is an=20
      outstanding friend, a tremendous family man and a great role =
model,=94 he=20
      says, noting that Donahue serves as a strong link and mentor for =
local=20
      interns and new graduates.</FONT></P>
      <P><FONT face=3D"Geneva, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif">When asked =
what the=20
      future holds for him, Donahue says he hopes to continue to be in a =

      leadership role with Community Bank, where the long-range =
objective is to=20
      become a $10 billion bank.</FONT></P>

      all the time Elly English planned to spend at St. Bonaventure =
University,=20
      a place that =93didn=92t even have a football team.=94</FONT></P>
      <P><FONT face=3D"Geneva, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif">But 45 =
years later,=20
      this lover of college football remains deeply connected to=20
      Bona=92s.</FONT></P>
      <P><FONT face=3D"Geneva, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif">=93I found =
three things=20
      when I came to St. Bonaventure: a professional home, a spiritual =
home and=20
      a familial home,=94 says English, who recently transitioned into a =

      retirement that promises to be anything but dull.</FONT></P>
      <P><FONT face=3D"Geneva, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif">LIFE=92S=20
LOOM</FONT></P>
      <P><FONT face=3D"Geneva, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif">Born in =
Seneca Falls,=20
      N.Y. (birthplace of the women=92s rights movement and home of =
Elizabeth Cady=20
      Stanton, she proudly points out), English was the first of her =
family to=20
      go to college.</FONT></P>
      <P><FONT face=3D"Geneva, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif">Her =
parents, each the=20
      eldest in large circles of siblings, were forced to quit school in =
order=20
      to help support their families. But they possessed a strong =
commitment to=20
      a future college education for their only child.</FONT></P>
      <P><FONT face=3D"Geneva, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif">English =
fulfilled=20
      this goal by attending the State University College of New York at =

      Brockport, where she earned a bachelor=92s degree in health and =
physical=20
      education. </FONT></P>
      <P><FONT face=3D"Geneva, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif">And she =
didn=92t stop=20
      there. </FONT></P>
      <P><FONT face=3D"Geneva, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif">Her first =
master=92s=20
      degree was from Ithaca College, in physical education. Two more =
followed,=20
      both from St. Bonaventure =97 one in elementary education, the =
other in=20
      counselor education. From there, she headed to Italy to gather =
research=20
      for her dissertation, earning a doctorate in physical education, =
majoring=20
      in history and philosophy of physical education and sport from =
SUNY at=20
      Buffalo. Then it was on to a teaching stint at Kent State =
University,=20
      which she calls her =93Mt. Olympus for sport history and=20
      philosophy.=94</FONT></P>
      <P><FONT face=3D"Geneva, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif">INTRICATE=20
      WEAVES</FONT></P>
      <P><FONT face=3D"Geneva, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif">But the =
thread that=20
      led her to St. Bonaventure was her late husband, longtime Bona=92s =
professor=20
      Joseph C. English II, who taught in the School of Education for 27 =
years.=20
      He was meticulous; she thrived within chaos.</FONT></P>
      <P><FONT face=3D"Geneva, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif">They =
arrived at=20
      Bona=92s in 1964 with their two young daughters in tow and a son =
to follow=20
      (all three to become Bona alumni; Susan, =9278, Pamela, =9279 and =
Dr. Joe,=20
      =9287), at a time when females were not permitted to wear slacks =
or have a=20
      dorm on campus.</FONT></P>
      <P><FONT face=3D"Geneva, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif">=93In 1970, =
the=20
      university was still putting together the curriculum for the =
master=92s in=20
      elementary education and asked if anybody in the group could teach =
health=20
      education,=94 she recalls, citing a state education law that by =
1976 would=20
      require elementary teachers to have a background in teaching =
health=20
      education, including sex education. </FONT></P>

      Clare College and the successful completion of our Middle States =

      2004. She simply refused to be defeated by the serious threats to =

      responsibility of the Permanent Accreditation Committee is to =

      overseas programs established for undergraduates and to review =

      2007, English, as a member of the PAC Team, headed back to Rome, =
Florence=20
      and Venice to complete their review tasks and found time to search =
for a=20
      bargain tapestry, =93an oxymoron at best,=94 she =
