The=20 Buzz ranked No. 2 by Princeton Review

St. = Bonaventure=20 University=92s student-run radio station, WSBU-FM 88.3 The Buzz, = is once=20 again a national hit.

Just two = years after=20 being ranked No. 1 in the =93Best College Radio Station=94 = category, WSBU=20 landed at No. 2 in this year=92s Princeton Review annual college = guide,=20 which once again ranked St. Bonaventure as one of the =93Best 371=20 Colleges.=94

Rankings = reporting=20 the top 20 colleges for radio stations, along with more than 50 = other=20 categories, are in the 2009 edition of The Princeton Review=92s = annual=20 college guide, which was released Monday.

The = station, founded=20 in 1948, prides itself on broadcasting 24 hours a day, seven days = a week,=20 offering a variety of music, including modern rock, alternative = and=20 hip-hop, along with news, sports and specialty shows.

WSBU =97 = located on the=20 Web at www.wsbufm.net =97 has been ranked among the top five = college radio=20 stations in the Princeton Review survey for more than a = decade.

SBU offers three new graduate school financial aid = programs=20

St.=20 Bonaventure University has instituted three new graduate aid = programs to=20 make continuing education more affordable in these challenging = economic=20 times.

Two of = the=20 scholarships =96 the AmeriCorps Education Award Matching Grant, = and the=20 Franciscan Mission Grant for those employed by Catholic = organizations =96=20 target those in largely service-oriented professions who are most = affected=20 by the unstable economy.

A third = award,=20 the President=92s Jubilee Scholarship, will help students enrolled = in the=20 master=92s program at St. Bonaventure=92s Franciscan Institute, an = internationally recognized center of teaching, research and = publication on=20 the Franciscan movement.

All are = in=20 keeping with the university=92s commitment to fostering the = development of=20 skilled and compassionate individuals who embrace such Franciscan = values=20 as individual dignity and service to others.

=93Essentially,=20 we=92re putting our money where our heart is,=94 said Bruce = Campbell, director=20 of graduate admissions at St. Bonaventure. =93These scholarships = will let us=20 help those who are working in positions that reflect Franciscan = ideals -=20 exactly the kind of people we want in our graduate program and = showing SBU=20 on their resumes. They are active and engaged, interested in = others,=20 community builders and future leaders. The President=92s Jubilee = Scholarship=20 will help those who want to learn more about our unique Franciscan = heritage.=94

St. = Bonaventure=20 is the first college in Western New York to match the AmeriCorps = Segal=20 Education Award.

AmeriCorps offers=20 its volunteers an education award of up to $4,725 for one year of=20 full-time service and $9,450 for two years. St. Bonaventure will = match in=20 full a $4,725 award for any graduate program 30-36 credit hours in = length.=20 For two-year AmeriCorps volunteers, St. Bonaventure will match up = to 75=20 percent of the $9,450 for graduate programs 39-51 credit hours in = length,=20 and match in full the $9,450 award for students enrolled in the = 60-credit=20 community mental health counseling program.

Those = holding a=20 partial education award (for part-time service) will instead = receive St.=20 Bonaventure=92s Dean=92s Graduate Scholarship, which offers a = slightly higher=20 grant.

The = Franciscan=20 Mission Grant, an award equivalent to 30 percent of a student=92s = tuition=20 costs, is available to any matriculated St. Bonaventure graduate = student=20 who is employed in a Catholic organization, including schools, = diocesan=20 and parish offices, Catholic Charities, Catholic Health, Catholic = colleges=20 that don=92t offer graduate degrees, and other non-profit = Catholic-based=20 organizations. Awards are made on a space available basis and top=20 executives and some medical professionals are = ineligible.

The = President=92s=20 Jubilee Scholarship, created in celebration of St. Bonaventure=92s = 150th=20 anniversary, offers a similar grant for students enrolled in the = two-year=20 master=92s program at SBU=92s renowned Franciscan = Institute.

St. = Bonaventure=20 University offers graduate programs in education, counseling, = business,=20 English, Franciscan Studies and Integrated Marketing = Communications at its=20 main campus in Olean and its Buffalo Center on the Hilbert College = campus=20 in Hamburg. The latter employs a weekend format, allowing for = accelerated=20 degree completion.

In = addition to=20 the three new graduate scholarship programs, St. Bonaventure = offers two=20 other awards for eligible graduate students: Bona Advantage, a 15 = percent=20 tuition reduction for St. Bonaventure or Hilbert College graduates = returning for a graduate program within five years of earning an=20 undergraduate degree; and the Dean=92s Graduate Scholarship, which = offers a=20 20 percent tuition discount. These grant and scholarship programs = cannot=20 be combined.
