      undergraduate students from Central America will be introduced to =
American=20
      culture and democracy through a prestigious five-week Study of the =
United=20
      States Institute for Student Leaders at St. Bonaventure=20

academic and=20
      cultural immersion will explore the theme of American =
identity.</FONT></P>

Bonaventure has=20
      partnered with the Institute for Training &amp; Development (ITD) =
of=20
      Amherst, Mass., and received a $204,000 grant through the U.S. =

      of State=92s Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs to offer =
the summer=20
      institute for Central American students.</FONT></P>

      <P><FONT face=3D"Geneva, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif">The 22 =
students from=20
      Belize, Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala, Nicaragua and Panama =
were=20
      recommended by their universities and earned scholarships through =
the=20
      State Department to participate. They will arrive on campus July=20
      12.</FONT></P>

      <P><FONT face=3D"Geneva, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif">The SBU =
program will=20
      provide the students with a deeper understanding of the U.S. while =

      enhancing their leadership skills. Staff for the institute =

      Allegany with a city planner will complement lectures on economic =

      Bonaventure joins three other institutions hosting U.S. Institutes =

      Student Leaders this summer: the Institute for Training &amp; =

Guatemala and=20
      Mexico; and the University of Tennessee, which hosts students from =
