2010 Hellinger Award Winner- Charles Specht

Charles Specht was honored as the Hellinger Award winner as the program celebrated 50 years of recognizing outstanding journalism/mass communication talent. The program took place in Olean.

Specht was the editor-in-chief of The Bona Venture and The Communicator. A recipient of the Jim Murray Memorial Foundation Scholarship, given nationally to seven essay contest winners, he was also a reporter for SBU-TV, was a leader of men's overnights at Mt. Irenaeus Franciscan retreat center, and was president and captain of the Rugby Club. Specht also served internships with WIVB-TV in Buffalo, the Buffalo Bills, The Buffalo News and NBC's "Meet the Press."
