2003 Hellinger Award Winner- Rebecca Campana
The Hellinger Awards returned to New York City in 2003 when they were held at The Athletic Club. Rebecca Campana, a native of Centerville, New York, took home the honors.
Campana graduated summa cum laude with a dual degree in journalism/mass communications and English. One of seven Jim Murray Scholars nationwide, she was very involved with theater and the arts while an undergraduate. A member of Alpha Psi Omega, the national theater honor society, and was active with the Garret Theater Players, the Musical Theater Company (where she served as president and secretary), and was a cantor for Music Ministry. Campana was also an arts marketing intern at the Regina A. Quick Center for the Arts and spent a summer at the Chautauqua Conservatory Theater Co. where she wrote press releases and edited writen materials. In addition, Campana served a year as the editor of Directions, the St. Bonaventure Career Center newsletter and was a member of Kappa Tau Alpha.
Another summer was spent as a camp counselor for the YMCA, where she edited the camp newspaper. After graduation, she was employed as a home visitor for EvenStart, family literacy program.
