1990 Hellinger Award Winner- Lynne Sherwin
The Mark Hellinger Awards in 1990 marked the 30th year the honor was given out. Lynne Sherwin, a native of Erie, Pennsylvania and a magna cum laude graduate, was selected for the award due to her excellent grades, involvement in multiple editorial positions for the Bona Venture, contributions to the Laurel (including serving as editor for three semesters) and the campus yearbook and membership in Kappa Tau Alpha (a national journalism honor society) and the Society of Professional Journalists. Upon graduation, she was awarded the Father Cornelius Welch Award for her outstanding achievements in photography.
As an undergraduate, Sherwin served two interships, one with the Millcreek Sun and the other with the Morning News, both based out of Erie. She served a postgraduate internship at the Detroit News.
