Dear Mother

I thought I would write a few lines to you to night to let you know that I have got here all safe & sound.  I started from Elmira yesterday at half past 5 o clock and got here at 5 o clock to night.  I found lots of fellers here But only 3 of the squad that came when I did.  I am the only one that has come Back from a furlow yet.  I havent reported to the Dockter yet.  I will wate un till morning & go & get the pay for my rations first

There is all most as much snow here as there is in Catt. [Cattaraugus] & about as cold.  Between Williamsport & HarrisBurg the snow was so deep that it was hard work for the Cars to get through.  There was one train loded with Coal run off the track last night gust ahead of us & detained us about 4 hours or els I should have ben here sooner than I was.  Well I am some sleepy so I guess Il go to Bed.  I will write again in a day or two.  You can tell all the Galls to direct to
