St. Francis and St. Clare Bench

The cast bronze statue of St. Francis and St. Clare accompanied by Clare's cat and the Wolf of Gubbio was installed in June 2018. The statue is located between Plassmann Hall and the McGinley-Carney Center for Franciscan Ministry.

The sculpture was done by Pittsburgh based artist Ray Sokolowski based on a drawing by Hannah Walker (Class of 2014), and paid for by donations from the former Board of Trustees Chair, Jack McGinley and current trustee Laurie Branch. The bench is meant to be functional and engage current and future students of St. Bonaventure in the spiritual mission of the university. Ray Sokolowski hoped that the "teachings of Saints Francis and Clare will bring to mind the importance of community with life and the environment" (SBU News, June 6, 2018).
