Statue of St. Francis
(Magnano Centre)

This statue of St. Francis is a memorial to those who had donated money to erect the St. Bonaventure statue in front of Devereux Hall and to others who died shortly before its installation.  The statue of St. Bonaventure was acquired as a memorial to students who had lost their lives in 1939.  The student body and the faculty had worked hard to raise money for the statue and, because of those efforts, were memorialized in turn here.  The pedestal for this statue reads:

In Memoriam
Robert J. Kinsella 1949
Jerry E. Mahaney 1952
Edward D. Kane 1952
Teresa R. Marra 1951
Richard J. Griffin 1953
James J. Moloney 1952
Requiesant in pace

The statue was moved next to the new entrance of the Magnano Centre in 2009.
